Should you read the Bible?

I finally finished the Good Book by David Plotz. The last chapter he writes is his answer to the question, "Should you read the Bible?"

He sums up his experience of reading the Bible to have been a search for knowledge rather than a search for enlightenment. From the beginning to the end of the Hebrew Scriptures, Plotz was more than a little skeptical of the Creator. However, he does throw the Bible a bone for its literary merit and the influence it has had on society, whether good or bad. Because of these reasons he answers with an emphatic "Yes."

I am still in the Hebrew Scriptures and have been pretty stagnant in my reading adventure for awhile now. Even still, I agree with Plotz and will eventually persevere and finish this 2000+ page, size 8 font, book. It's just something you should read and the base of many references in other facets of society/literature.
