We watched a movie in class the other day that put the compounding of the scriptures into a different light. I was under the impression that the R writer, or the redactor, was the only editor in the Bible... and I was mistaken.

The Torah was written first by the J writer and then the others, and finally made whole by the P writers. They filled in the blanks, adding a twist of their own to take the Bible from a story book, to the book of law we now read. Their people were full of sin at the time, much like in the beginning and still in present day, and they hoped to change that by setting the law of the land... to do good unto one another. This is now the golden rule of Western Society, and it all began in the Bible.

Ive been reading a lot, and thinking a lot about the Bible, ha, its kind of hard to get away from. Even when trying to avoid the subject of faith, the influence of the scriptures are pretty relvevant in "every day life." Every other novel to come after it, every film produced, and every TV show that flashes across the screen seems to have some sort of moral, lesson, or allusion to it.

Its everywhere. Now whether or not its brought up conversationally or to preach is a different story, but the relevance to a great portion of the human population is undeniable. Everyone knows about the Bible, but as I continue to read it, few people actually know whats inside its pages.

All the TV Ive been watching recently, while quarantined to my house due to the flu, shows the goodness of the book: proverbs, psalms, teachings of Jesus... but what about the in depth look at the dark side of humanity that it sheds light on?

You always hear grandparents or parents saying that, "Its not how it used to be when I was a kid. It was safer. Better. More wholesome, back in the day." But thats not true. Humans have had the same qualities dating all the way back to the times Before Christ.

The Bible shows rape, murder, deception, infidelity, incest, and so much more. I cant deny that times are changing, but in what way? They differ due to technological advances, but when you think about it... has the human race really evolved that much? At this point, in my opinion, it doesnt seem weve come as far as we tend to give ourselves credit for.
